The third quarter evened out with each side scoring just a single goal leaving Australia ahead 10-4 going to the fourth. The United States offense never got on track, mustering two goals in the fourth while the defense allowed three as Australia took the match 13-6.
Team USA went 4/14 on the power play and did not attempt a penalty while Australia was 3/8 on the power play and 1/1 on penalty shots.
“I was disappointed with the effort and focus today. But take nothing away from Australia. They were dominant and proved why I believe they are the most talented team in the world,” said USA Head Coach Adam Krikorian.
