USC Women Earn Unanimous #1 Ranking In CWPA Week 12 Varsity Polls

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California become the unanimous selection as the top-ranked team in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Week 12/April 13 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, the University of Michigan and Austin College hang on as the top-ranked teams in the Division III Top 10,  CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.

2022 WOMEN’S VARSITY NATIONAL TOP 25 (WEEK 12)

The University of Southern California picks up 100 points to rate as a unanimous No. 1 selection in the Week 12/April 13 National Top 25 Poll.

The Trojans (100 points) lead a Top 25 which experiences two changes from the Week 11 voting as Long Beach State University eclipses the University of California-Davis to take over at No. 10 and Princeton University pulls ahead of San Diego State University as the duo trade the No. 20 and 21 slots.

USC, Stanford University (96 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (92 points), the University of Hawaii (86 points), the University of California-Irvine (84 points), the University of California (80 points), the University of Michigan (76 points), Fresno State University (73 points) and Arizona State University (66 points) retain the No. 1-to-9 positions, respectively, while Long Beach State (65 points) and UC-Davis (61 points) trade the No. 10 and 11 berths.

The University of California-San Diego (55 points), San Jose State University (49 points), Indiana University (45 points), Wagner College (44 points), University of the Pacific (42 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (37 points), Loyola Marymount University (33 points) and Harvard University (27 points) stand at No. 12-to-19 with Princeton (24 points) and San Diego State (23 points) exchanging the No. 20 and 21 positions.

Brown University (18 points), Long Island University (12 points), California State University-Northridge (7 points) and Marist College (6 points) once again complete the Top 25.

2022 WOMEN’S VARSITY DIVISION III TOP 10 (WEEK 12)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remains unchallenged at No. 1 in the 2022 Women’s Varsity Division III Week 12/April 13 Top 10 Poll.

Changes abound in the Top 10 this week behind Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points).

Whittier College (88 points) – which defeated previously No. 3 California Lutheran University by a 13-12 score last week – and Austin College (83 points) – which claimed the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III-West Region regular season title over the weekend – climb to No. 3 and 4, respectively, with the University of La Verne (82 points) remaining at No. 5.

Chapman University (73 points) – which also defeated Cal Lutheran by a 9-8 count last week – inches up to No. 6 with Cal Lutheran (72 points) dropping back to No. 7.

The University of Redlands (66 points), Augustana College (61 points) and Occidental College (44 points) complete the Top 10.

2022 WOMEN’S VARSITY COLLEGIATE WATER POLO ASSOCIATION TOP 5 (WEEK 12)

Five-time defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion the University of Michigan continues at No. 1 in the 2022 CWPA Division I Week 12/April 13 Top Five Poll.

The 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 league champion, Michigan (100 points) remains the undisputed/unanimous No. 1 selection.

The first four positions remain unchanged as Michigan, Harvard University (93 points), Princeton University (90 points) and Brown University (87 points) retain their prior billing.

Saint Francis University (48 points) takes over the final slot to round out the Top Five.

The Kangaroos (100 points) continue as a unanimous No. 1 pick with Augustana College (95 points), Macalester College (88 points) and Wittenberg University (87 points) remaining at No. 2-to-4, respectively.

Washington & Jefferson College (32 points) gains company at No. 5 as Grove City College (32 points) pulls even with the Presidents.
