USC Women Win Pac-12 Dual Meet on the Road Against Oregon State

The Women of Troy headed to Corvalis on Saturday to take on the Beavers at the Osborn Aquatic Center. USC won 12 of 14 events and came out on top, 153 to 107. Joanna Stenkvist and Diana Chang both picked up a pair of victories for the Trojans, while Andrea Kropp got a treble. Sammy Harrison of Oregon State won two events for the Beavers.

USC won a fairly narrow race in the opening 200 medley relay with Chang (26.35), Jamie Christie (29.72), Kropp (25.66) and Bexx Heyliger (23.60) combining for 1:45.33. Oregon State finished second in 1:46.64 (Amani Amr, 27.04; Allie Kilroy, 29.69; Constance Toulemonde, 25.95; and Andrea Young, 23.96).

Harrison took the first of the two distance events in a comfortable 9:56.92. USC’s Maggie D’Innocenzo (10:20.62) was second; OSU’s Emma Osowski (10:47.52), third. Harrison also won the 500 free, posting a 4:54.77 ahead of D’Innocenzo (5:03.70) and OSU’s Dakota Bloch (5:16.28).

Stenkvist of USC came out on top in the 200 free, touching in 1:53.55. Bloch (1:55.95) and Toulemonde (1:56.62) of OSU rounded out the podium.

Chang and USC teammate Sidney Cooke went 1-2 in the 100 back with 55.94 and 56.73, respectively. Oregon State’s Amr was third in 57.11. Kropp notched another USC win with 1:02.97 in the 100 breast. Her teammate Christie just edged OSU’s Czsarina Isleta, 1:04.96 to 1:05.13.

D’Innocenzo rose to the top of the podium with a 2:03.34 in the 200 fly. The Beavers’ Brooke Meyer (2:07.79) finished ahead of USC’s Brianna Weinstein (2:09.26) for second.

In the sprint free events, it was USC’s Heyliger (24.22) in the 50 and Chang (51.42) in the 100. OSU went 2-3 in both races, with Young (24.64) and Caroline McLaggan (24.86) in the 50 and Harrision (53.10) and Anni Hecker (53.19) in the 100.

Stenkvist’s second win was in the 200 back, where she came in ahead of OSU’s Amr 2:03.02 to 2:03.58. Third place went to USC’s Cooke (2:04.00). The 200 breast provided Kropp with her second gold; she won in 2:14.05. Isleta (2:19.86) was second and USC’s Blair Carnes (2:23.88) took third.

Kindle Van Linge of USC (57.31) out-touched Andrea Young (58.25) and Meyer (59.05) of Oregon State in the 100 fly. Young was back in the next race where she took another second, this time to USC’s Kropp who went 2:03.73 to win the 200 IM. Young finished in 2:08.88. Her teammate Czsarina Isleta (2:10.61) just touched out Christie for third.

The Trojans won another close relay in the 4×100 free, 3:32.24 to OSU’s 3:33.73. The USC relay featured Stenkvist (52.67), Chang (51.29), Heyliger (53.23), and Cooke (55.05). OSU consisted of Harrison (52.86), Bloch (53.91), Noemie Midrez (53.71), and Tair Maimon (53.25).
