2021 MPSF Player of the Year
MAUD MEGENS · #2 · R-SENIOR · UTILITY · USC
USC redshirt senior Maud Megens (Rotterdam, Netherlands/Leonardo College) scored in 13 of 14 regular season games she played and totaled 32 goals, third-most on the Trojans. She had six multiple-goal outings (and six hat tricks), highlighted by a then MPSF season-high five goals in a 12-7 win over No. 4 UC Irvine (Feb. 13). She added four assists and a steal in that contest to collect her eighth career MPSF/KAP7 weekly award, sixth as player of the week. Megens ranks third in the MPSF in goals and points per game and fifth in steals per game. She enters this year’s postseason with 195 career goals, ninth-most in Trojan history, and seeks to become the 45th MPSF player all-time to reach 200. A four-time all-conference selection and three-time first team honoree, Megens represents USC’s conference-high 12th MPSF Player of the Year award (Amanda Longan-2018; Stephania Haralabidis-2016; Monica Vavic, 2013; Tumua Anae, 2010; Kami Craig, 2009; Moriah Van Norman, 2004; Sofia Konoukh, 2001 & 02; Aniko Pelle, 2000; Bernice Orwig, 1997 & 99).
2021 MPSF Newcomer of the Year
JEWEL ROEMER · #17 · FRESHMAN · ATTACKER · STANFORD
Stanford freshman Jewel Roemer (Martinez, CA/Acalanes HS) has scored 29 goals on the year, third-most on the team. She has also dished out 21 assists to rank in the MPSF’s top-five through the regular season. Her 50 points entering the MPSF Tournament ranks sixth in the MPSF and are the most among all freshmen. Twenty-four of her goals have come within conference games, which are the fourth-most. Roemer has recorded 10 multiple-goal games in her initial season to match Sarah Klass with the most on the Cardinal. Roemer had a career-high five goals at top-ranked USC (Apr. 10), Stanford’s second-highest single-game scoring output this year. She was a three-time MPSF/KAP7 Newcomer of the Week, most recently after combining for three goals and three steals across two wins at No. 4 California (Apr. 17-18). She totaled four goals and four assists in the Indiana series (Mar. 20-21), good for her second weekly honor, one week after her first career MPSF award backed by a conference season-high six assists against San Jose State (Mar. 13). Roemer is Stanford’s conference record eighth MPSF Newcomer of the Year recipient (Ryann Neushul-2019; Kat Klass-2016; Jordan Raney-2015; Kiley Neushul-2012; Melissa Seidemann-2009; Amber Oland-2008; Lauren Silver-2006).
2021 MPSF Coach of the Year
MARKO PINTARIC · HEAD COACH · SECOND YEAR · USC
USC head coach Marko Pintaric guided the Trojans to a 17-1 (.944) regular season and No. 1 seed in the MPSF Championship Tournament. The Trojans strung together a 23-game win streak spanning from last year’s shortened season until the final game of the regular season this year. USC has eight wins against nationally-ranked top-five opponents this year, and five other wins against the top-10. USC held its opponents to single-digit goals in 14 of 18 regular season games, while scoring 10 or more in 15. The Trojans placed a high of six players on this year’s All-MPSF Teams, highlighted by four-time honoree and player of the year Maud Megens.
