The Utah Utes have released their 2014-2015 schedule, which will include a road rematch of one of last year’s most memorable upsets.
Utah knocked off the Arizona Wildcats in Utah last fall, the start to a tumultuous regular season for Zona and a major statement for Utah. This year, the two teams will rematch in Tuscon, with UNLV making things a triangular. That meet is scheduled for November 1.
The Utah schedule is notable for how many split-squad meets it will feature. Coach Joe Dykstra noted this in the team’s press release. “We will have to split the squad (men/women, swimmers/divers) more often than I would like,” he said, “but I think this schedule will best prepare our swimmers and divers for the Pac-12 and NCAA Championship meets at the end of the season.”
The women will open things up against Stanford on September 26th, getting the first look at the Cardinal’s monster recruiting class that includes Simone Manuel and Janet Hu. The men and women compete in an intrasquad meet the following day.
It appears the team has a pair of mid-season rest meets, with some athletes attending the Texas Invite and others the Colorado Mesa Invite, both on December 4-6.
Some more notable meets: the women host Cal on November 14, and the men take on USC late in the season, on February 20-21, just a few weeks before the Pac-12 Championships.
The full schedule is below, and you can also find it on the Utah website here.

This is the third season in a row where the Utah men do not swim either Stanford or Cal during the regular season. I’m a bit surprised the PAC 12 conference allows that.
Realist I am quite certain Arizona wishes they had brought a larger team if thats the case.
Look, utah beat zona last year because they didn’t bring a whole team. Almost every event zona only had two guys. When you look at it that way, it isn’t a surprise Utah beat them. It will be drastically different this year
Incorrect. Last I looked at the meet results, Zona had three per event, including diving.
Realist you are more like ignorant due to the fact that Arizona got taken down fair and square. They left back one backstroker. Get your facts straight before you trash talk a team on the up swing.
