After winning two events each on the first day of the South African Swimming Grand Prix both Cameron van der Burgh and Chad le Clos stood atop of the podium one more time in Durban.
van der Burgh won the men’s 100 breaststroke, completing the sweep of the breaststroke events. He finished in a time of 1:01.48 almost a full second ahead of the next competitor.
le Clos won the men’s 200 freestyle in a time of 1:47.54. His time places him just outside the world’s top ten in the event. He also swam the prelims of the 50 freestyle posting a time of 23.19, but pulled out of the final.
Douglas Erasumus won the men’s 50 freestyle in a time of 22.83.
van der Burgh was not the only swimmer complete a sweep both, Tatjana Schoenmaker and Mariella Venter did the same. Schoenmaker took both the 50 and 200 breaststroke on Sunday, recording a 32.16 in the 50 and a 2:28.98 in the 200.
After winning both the 50 and 200 backstroke on Saturday Venter hit the wall first in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:02.13.
