Vancouver Dolphins Snap 15-17 Canadian NAG Relay Record

The Americans aren’t the only ones breaking National Age Group Records this weekend. North of the border, in Edmonton, the Vancouver Dolphins continued their outstanding performances at Summer Nationals by breaking a National Age Group Record in the 15-17 boy’s 800 free relay.

The group of Luke ReillyEdward ZhaoGabriel Lee, and Justin Chan took 5th in 7:41.62, which broke the record set earlier this year by a squad from OakAquatics at this year’s Olympic Trials in 7:42.54.

The splits are below:

Reilly – 1:56.56
Zhao – 1:55.31
Lee – 1:55.04
Chan – 1:54.71
Total – 7:41.62

The boys from Oak Aquatics finished 4th, in 7:41.36, but they had two new swimmers including 18-year old Reid Scarrow in the group this time.

The winners of the relay was the A-Relay from Island Swimming. That group of Jeremy BagshawStefan HirniakKeegan Zanatta, and Peter Brothers swam a 7:24.87 for the National Championship. That’s their third-straight title.
