BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont swimming & diving team will be participating in the upcoming National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) 5K Walk on Saturday morning (Oct. 3). The Catamounts will be walking in the event for the third consecutive year.
The walk raises money and awareness for the NAMI organization. Check in begins at 10 a.m. at Battery Park in Burlington and the walk gets underway at 11 a.m. The team is currently raising money, and anyone looking to make a donation can do so at the link above.
Over the last two years at the event, the women’s swimming & diving program has raised nearly $7,000 for NAMI, which has been donated to the organization to support its mission of providing assistance and spreading awareness for those affected by mental illness.
NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness by providing services, treatment and research.
As part of the cause, it organizes NAMIWalks throughout the country to help generate support and awareness for those affected. NAMIWalks has become the largest and most successful mental health awareness and fundraising event in America, and is celebrating its 13th anniversary this year.
