Versatile Lauren Wille Verbally Commits to Washington State University

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Lauren Wille from Oswego, Illinois verbally committed to swim at Washington State University. The senior at Oswego High School specializes in mid-distance freestyle and individual medley, as well as sprint breaststroke.

I am grateful for the opportunity to swim at WSU under the leadership of Coach Matt Leach! I’d like to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me throughout the years. I would not be where I am without my High School and club coach, Deryl Leubner.”

Wille swims club for Delta Aquatics and recently competed at the Central Zone Speedo Summer Sectionals, where she placed 16th in the 400-meter individual medley. She also recently competed at the Illinois Senior Swimming Championship, where she placed third in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 100 breaststroke. Her best short course times are:

  • 100 breaststroke: 1:03.55
  • 200 freestyle: 1:49.74
  • 200 breaststroke: 2:21.35
  • 200 individual medley: 2:03.42
  • 500 freestyle: 4:59.55

Wille swam the 100 breaststroke and 200 freestyle for the majority of her high school career, and in her sophomore year she qualified for finals at the IHSA state championships, placing sixth in the 100 breaststroke and twelfth in the 200 freestyle.

Though the COVID-19 pandemic cut her junior season short, ISHA announced the top 12 regular season or postseason performances for each event. Wille received third place recognition for the 200 freestyle and twelfth place for the 100 breaststroke.

Washington State University is a Division I school and a member of the Pac-12 Conference, finishing seventh at the women’s Pac-12 Championships. With her best times, Wille would’ve placed in the top 16 at the championships in the 200 freestyle and the top 24 in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley in 2021.

Wille joins verbal commit Emily Lundgren, a breakout breaststroker, in the Cougars’ class of 2026. Washington State is known for freestyle, especially last season, when Chloe Larson won the 50 freestyle and became the school’s first Pac-12 champion. Lundgren and Wille represent a chance to build the breaststroke depth within the team.

Kirsten de Goede, a South African sprinter, and butterflier Skylar Brgoch have also committed to WSU.
