Versatile Maddie Pierce Verbally Commits to South Carolina for 2021-22

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Maddie Pierce from the Richmond suburb of Glen Allen, Virginia has announced her verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina’s class of 2025. A junior at Glen Allen High School, Pierce swims year-round for NOVA of Virginia Aquatics.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career to swim for the University of South Carolina. Thank you to all of my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and everyone else who has helped me to get where I am today. I am so grateful for all of the love and support, and I am so excited to be a Gamecock! #spursup🐔”

Pierce is a versatile swimmer who has represented the Jaguars in free, back, and IM at Virginia 5A High School state meets. As a freshman in 2018, she finished 5th in the 100 back. She skipped the next year but at the 2020 VHSL 5A Championships she swam the 200 IM and 100 free. She came in 6th in the former (2:07.05) and 5th in the latter (52.85) and led off the 4×50 free (24.94) and 4×100 free (53.15) relays. Pierce competed at 2019 Winter Juniors East in the 100 back and 100 fly. She also swam on NOVA’s 200 free relay (23.84 split), 400 free relay (52.46 leadoff), and 400 medley relay (56.55 leadoff backstroke).
