Versatile Swimmer Madreena Lee Commits to In-State Cal Poly Class of 2025

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Madreena Lee has announced her decision to swim for California Poly beginning in the 2021-2022 season. She recently graduated from Carondelet High School and she swims club for the Terrapins Swim Team.

I am so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swim career at Cal Poly SLO! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for all their love and support! Go Mustangs!

Lee had to take a two-year break from swimming after having been diagnosed with stage 3 dysautonomia disease. Her doctors have been able to control her symptoms, allowing her to get back in the water and race again. Since then, she has continued to improve her best times.

In May of 2019, Lee competed at the California CIF North Coast Section Championship. She swam the 100 fly and 200 IM, touching 23rd and 31st, respectively. Her fly time of 59.56 was a personal best, while her 2:13.68 in the IM was just off her fastest time.

Lee picked up her first 2021 Futures cut at an intrasquad meet. She swam the 200 breast, 200 IM, 200 fly, 100 breast, and 500 free. Between her prelims and finals swims, she dropped 3.69 seconds from her entry in the 200 breast, earning her first Futures qualifying time. She saw significant improvements in her 200 IM as well, dropping 4.34 seconds to go a 2:09.24. She picked up additional lifetime best times in the 100 fly (58.35) and the 500 free (5:14.04).

Top SCY Times:

  • 200 breast – 2:22.65
  • 200 IM – 2:09.24
  • 400 IM – 4:35.66
  • 100 fly – 58.35
  • 200 fly – 2:09.85

Lee will make an immediate impact on the team when she arrives in the fall of 2021. Her top times would have made her a point-scorer for the team at the 2021 MPSF Championships. She would have finished 10th in the 400 IM, 11th in the 200 breast, and 16th in the 200 IM. She will be one of Cal Poly’s fastest incoming breaststrokers and IMers.

The Mustangs have already picked up commitments from butterflier Taylor Lyon and breaststroker Dariko Djatej for the class of 2025.
