Watch above as Cal freshman Cierra Runge, who has range from 50-to-the-mile, talks about her meet on Friday against USC where she won the 1000 free (9:51.36) and 500 free (4:47.83).
Runge echoed the sentiments of her teammates talking about how pleased they were with the team’s overall performance on Friday.
I recently saw a photo of Cal girls and Cierra Runge looked giant, especially next to Missy Franklin who isn’t particularly short.
According to the Cal website, she’s officially 6’3”. I would have said at least 6’5”! 🙂
I wondered how the transition would happen at Cal and if she could continue to improve as well there as at NBAC in the last year, a big breakout year for her. She swam 1.44.12 in the 200 free and 4.34.81 in the 500 free last December. Both are best times. Of course everything still has to be confirmed in long course next summer with a medal in the 400 free at the world championships. But it looks good so far.
