Kelsey Wog was one of the top performers at the second annual Ontario Junior International. Wog came away with two new Canadian records, a win in the 200m IM, and managed to sweep all three breaststroke events.
Following her record-setting run in Toronto, the 17-year-old standout gave her commitment to swim with the University of Manitoba next season.
NIGHT ONE
The storyline of the night for the Canadian athletes was Kelsey Wog’s dominant swim in the 100m breaststroke. With a very solid swim, Wog managed to put up a 1:06.20 to claim gold.
That time broke the previous 15-17 national age group mark of 1:06.29 set by former 50m breaststroke world record holder Amanda Reason.
Nina Kucheran finished second behind Wog in 1:08.87.
NIGHT TWO
Kelsey Wog broke her second national age group record of the competition en route to a strong victory in the girls 200m IM final.
Wog separated herself from the field during a very strong breaststroke leg in order to unleash a 2:10.14. That time broke the previous record held by Erika Seltrenreich-Hodgson who dropped a 2:10.78 in 2013.
Wog finished ahead of Sarah Darcel of Island swimming who was also close to the previous Canadian record.
