From our full report here:
An Associated Press report says Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz have confirmed that the story of a gunpoint robbery in Rio was fabricated.
Conger and Bentz were with Jimmy Feigen and Ryan Lochte early Sunday morning when Lochte said they were robbed at gunpoint.
But Brazilian police have alleged that no robbery took place, but that the four were involved in an altercation at a gas station that led to damages to the gas station bathroom.
Conger and Bentz were pulled off of their airplane home from Rio to speak to police about the incident. And now the Associated Press is reporting that the two confirmed that the robbery story was made up.
According to the AP report, Lochte first lied about the robbery when speaking to his mother. She then told the story to reporters, which is when the story became widely reported in the media.
Brazilian police say the swimmers stopped at the gas station to use the bathroom, but broke the door upon finding it locked. There are allegations of other damages to the bathroom as well. The swimmers were confronted by a security guard who was armed, though there are conflicting reports as to whether or not he took out his gun while dealing with the swimmers. You can read several of the differing accounts here.
Lochte is currently back in the United States, while the other three remain in Brazil until the situation is resolved.
The saw Lochte’s hair and assumed he was full of silver…hence the search warrant
Right now, if Ryan Lochte wanted to file charges against certain posters on this board, I think he would have VERY good grounds for defamation of character.
On those grounds alone, Swimswam might want to do some of them a favor (I don’t know, interject, not allow a post) and help them from continuing to shove their foots in their mouths.
Remember, the ONLY persons who stand something to lose here AS A RESULT OF FALSE ALLEGATIONS are these 4 swimmers.
One more salient point needs to be made about this entire incident. Lochte is a millionaire with multiple product endorsements. Not only would nothing in his past corroborate the picture the Brazilian authorities are trying to paint of him, that he’s a liar and a vandal, but it doesn’t even make sense on multiple levels:
1. Who would jeopardize his name and livelihood because of petty crime?
2. As for the other 3, how would ALL of them be willing to destroy their careers and reputations based on another’s lie?
I don’t know about you, but I know there would be NOTHING that would persuade me to ruin my honor, and by extension, the name of my loved ones,… Read more »
It’s funny to read the comments from people who will defend Lochte and company to the bitter end! LOL There are a lot of people with mental issues in this world.
Listen, if you can defend this:

You’re the one who’s mental. Severely so.
No evidence of any vandalism or any destroyed property whatsoever. No factual predicate for law enforcement to have detained, let alone drawn weapons upon, the four swimmers whatsoever. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY MISBEHAVIOR BY THE FOIUR SWIMMERS WHATSOEVER.
Incredible how the FACTS easily expose the bad guys in our midst. It seems practically the only good guys were the accused to begin with!
I just wish they had stolen the cab and Phelps was driving, then we would have been close to having enough material for Hangover 4, Adventures In Rio
The video and the Brazilian police account prove the following:
1. The 4 swimmers tried to get into a cab at a gas station, and the driver would not let them in (just as Lochte told Matt Lauer).
2. The 4 swimmers got in another cab, and that cab driver would not drive off and/or was prevented from driving off (just as Lochte told Matt Lauer).
3. A man who appears to be a security guard (dressed in black, with a gun and a badge) approached the 4 swimmers’ cab, and the 4 swimmers exited the cab (just as Lochte told Matt Lauer).
4. The other 3 swimmers go off camera, likely as instructed by the armed… Read more »

Social Justice Warriors on the attack commenting about white male privilege, double standards, inequality.
This was the kindest tweet:
Nelson Bighetti (!): “At least the synchronized swimmers would have kept their stories straight.”
Not by me! I’ve defended him from minute 1. 4 guys with an excellent reputation don’t all of a sudden decide to put their careers on the line because they somehow were inspired to become vandals.
The fact that so many people on these boards were ready to skewer him tells me practically all I want to know about them.
You should be terribly ashamed and, more curiously, all of a sudden you can practically hear a pin drop. YOUR SILENCE IS DEAFENING.
He’s being attacked by SJWs with the typical racist PC BS – even MORE evidence that he’s innocent. I’ve never witnessed a more wrong-headed, anti-free speech, language policing, anti-American group of people in my life.
