I’ve now convinced myself that Yanyan is just wearing a black hoodie and is leaning back; but for the first minute of the video, I was thinking that she was dressed up for Halloween as Missy Elliot from “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHcyJPTTn9w), which would have been amazing.
Haha yeah I was recording on my phone during this breakdown so the angle is strange
Coleman tiptoeing carefully with his comments about Kaylee this time. 🙂
Well obviously he doesn’t want to repeat his infamous “Kaylee McKeown always swim slower outside Australia”
nobody in the world is fit to race prime Caeleb Dressel in a 50 free, let alone 25 free. The more you isolate his start, the better he gets. Pit him against anyone, they’re all gonna lose by at least half a body length. His start obliterates the start of anyone else in the world.
McEvoy just swam a time that is 0.02 off Dressel’s PB in the 50 so your first sentence seems blatantly untrue
I think McEvoy did say that his first 15 was still much slower than caelebs and that this would be area of improvement
Yes! I’m rooting for both of these guys. I’m learning so much by watching how McEvoy pulls and how he resistance-trains. But it’s worth noting that Dressel’s best time in the Olympics included his worst start in awhile. He can go faster. As Cesar Cielo said in an interview after the Olympics, he thinks Dressel would crush his record in the 50 if he didn’t also swim so many other events. Maybe McEvoy and Dressel both go under 20.9!
I am guessing you didn’t watch Fukuoka World Championship
It may have been ISL (can’t remember), but Ben Proud seemed to come up even with Dressel at 15m. He is jacked, has a great start, is 100% fast twitch, and can UW kick. He can compete with Dressel in a 25.
My opinions no one asked for(before listening to the podcast):
0:19 Jasmine Nocentini is adapting to UVA really well and is going to be a major player at NCAAs
13:55 If Gretchen had clipped an NCAA record it would’ve been the best performance but Marchand still has it from ASU vs CAL
21:13 Bricker is definitely a green flag for Stanford
29:55 Dressel vs Cielo
36:37 Sink Kaylee (57.14)
39:17 Swim Sun Yang
45:05 Swim Matt Klotz
I’m torn on Kaylee. Do I feel in my bones that she has a 56 in her? Yes. But she set the WR at 57.45. She’d need to drop another half a second.
In the modern era, excluding super suit aided and chemical aided swims, the only swimmers (that I could find) to set a WR in a 100 and then subsequently beat that record by half a second or more are Peaty, Sjostrom (fly), Heyns and Jones. They are all considered the GOAT or co-GOAT of their respective strokes.
You could see in Kaylee’s recent WRs that her skills have improved markedly since last year. If she can keep those skills up and hit a perfect taper… Read more »
Actually add Crocker to the list I think
I still think she can do it. She is exceptional.
How about Milák?
We’ll need to see his current form.
Until he competes, it’s hard to say anything.
He’d have to break 100 LCM Fly once, before he could break it again by 0.50 seconds.
The comment is about 100s.
Totally agree about the livestream. I was so surprised it wasn’t streamed anywhere at all. I get Instagram live, but Youtube would have been so much better. It was really hard to see the swims from where he was shooting.
Here’s my questions. As a fan, can i livestream meets? We were talking about it and wondering if it would violate the conferences television rights. If it didn’t I would totally livestream the meets I’m at.
I think I remember someone streaming NCAAs last year because the TV stream was so bad at times.
You cannot, legally.
But the odds of them noticing or doing anything about it are somewhere south of slim and north of none.
Coleman, why would people have a problem with Sun Yang making finals? He served his suspension. Should they have a problem with Shana Jack also?
This is a fair question! I have more of a problem with the fact that he wouldn’t have qualified at trials but is swimming at Olympics anyway. But I also come from the US, where Trials is the absolute only way to make an Olympic team.
If Sun Yang completed his ban, I don’t have a problem with him competing. I don’t have a problem w Shayna Jack competing.
But to answer your question, people will have a problem w Sun Yang swimming because he got pinged for doping. Some people have the mindset of “once a doper, always a doper”. People have a problem w Shayna competing now, just look at the comments.
Yes they should.
