VMI Men, Mount St. Mary’s Women Win Saturday Swim Dual

LEXINGTON, Va.  – The VMI men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams split a non-conference meet with Mount St. Mary’s University (Md.) Saturday in Clark King Pool as the Keydet men won 201-97 and the Mountaineer women’s team was victorious 187-86.

The two Keydet men’s relay teams won their races. The 400 medley team of Zach Emerson, Jack Sheehan, Dalton Cosner and Chino Vera finished in 3:32.42 and the 200 free team of Cosner, Vera, Anno Kong and Emerson won in 1:27.33.

Emerson won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.73 and the 100 free in 48.04 while Sheehan was first in the 100 breast in 59.03 and the 200 breast in 2:10.60. Collin Marks won two events, the 1650 free (17:30.96) and 500 free (5:02.55) and Bridger Thurston earned victories in the 1 meter (207.60) and 3 meter (150.45) diving competitions. Cosner also won two races, the 100 (53.73) and 200 (2:01.36) fly.

Connor Doyle finished the 200 free in 1:49.16 for first place and Chino Vera won the 50 free in 22.23. Ryan Cooper took top honors in the 400 IM in 4:21.20.

London Yerasimides won both women’s diving events; scoring 168.50 in the 1 meter and 193.60 in the 3 meter. Sophie Svoboda won the 50 free in 25.01 and was second in the 500 free in 5:38.98. Sarah Liebenow finished the 1650 in 20:23.13 for first place and Jessica Cox was second in the 200 breast in 2:55.12.
