Wagner Brings In 15 Newcomers For 2017-18 Season

Wagner head swimming and diving coach Colin Shannahan has announced that the program has added 15 new student-athletes for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.

The incoming class features 12 swimmers and three divers spanning from California, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Sweden, and Washington.

“This year’s class features an incredible mix of versatility and talent that will add to our returning core,” said head coach Colin Shannahan. “We’re excited to welcome this group of Seahawks and grow as a team.”

The Seahawks are the defending ECAC Championships and placed third at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships last season.

The Newcomers:

Cara Angelo | Wrentham, MA / King Phillip Regional
Before Wagner: Three-year member of the King Philip Regional Diving team … Hockomock League girl’s diving champion in 2016 and 2017… Placed 15th at Massachusetts D1 Sectional Championships and 14th at the Massachusetts D1 state championships in 2017 with a 370.4 score … Also participated in gymnastics and lacrosse … Member of the Boston Area Diving team.

Megan Chiu | Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge High School
Before Wagner: Four-year swimmer at Ridge High School … School record-holder in the 100 Free (53.78), 100 Fly (57.85), 200 Medley Relay (150.31), 200 Free Relay (1:42.03), and 400 Free Relay (3:38.47) … Placed on the podium at Skyland Conference championships numerous times … Recipient of the Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete award … Member of the National Honor Society.

Jessica Coats | Sweet Home, OR / Sweet Home
Before Wagner: Four-year varsity performer at Sweet Home High School … Helped her team capture the 2016 and 2017 state championship … State champion and school record holder in the 100 Back … Four-time district champion in the 100 Fly … Two-time state record relay member in the 200 Free Relay.

Michelle D’Allegro | Skillman, NJ / Montgomery
Before Wagner: Sister of current Seahawk swimmer Jenna D’Allegro … Four-year swimmer at Montgomery High School … Also swam for Somerset Valley YMCA … Conference champion in the 100 Breast … Helped her school to a county championship in 2016 and a state championship in 2015 … Finalist at the YMCA Long Course Nationals in consecutive years … Her father, Mike, played basketball at Stevens Institute of Technology

Madeleine Delore | Alameda, CA / Alameda
Before Wagner: Helped Alameda High School to a WACC League Championship in 2016-17 … All-League First Team for four consecutive years … Voted most valuable swimmer in 2015 … Holds various school records and swam on multiple Hornets’ relay teams … Held a 4.0 GPA for more than seven consecutive semesters.

Harmony Eckroth | Johnstown, PA / Richland
Before Wagner: Four-year swimmer at Richland Senior High School … Helped her team to a district championship … Four-time district qualifier and three-time state qualifier … Two-time member of the All-Conference team … Two-time qualifier for the YMCA short course nationals … Also played varsity soccer.

Ida Eriksen | Sundbyberg, Sweden / Universal School
Before Wagner: Swedish international, who garnered three top-four finishes at the 2017 U18 Swedish National Championships … Swam a 2:04.86 in the 800 Free Relay to win the event, while earning a second-place finish in the 200 Free with a 2:05.91 and a fourth place in the 400 Free in 4:28.00 at the event.

Brianna Jeremiah | Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan Regional
Before Wagner: Helped Bridgewater-Raritan High School to three straight sectional championships from 2015-2017 and consecutive state titles … Swam for the #1-ranked team in New Jersey according to NJ.com and earned Athlete of the Week honors throughout her high school career.

Hande Kivanc | Lake Forest, IL / Lake Forest Academy
Before Wagner: Four-year swimmer at Lake Forest Academy in Illinois … Holds every current school record at her high school … Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, where she swam for Galatasaray Sports Club … Member of the Turkish national team … Holds Turkish national records in six disciplines.

Sidney Marjamaa | Lincroft, NJ / Middletown South
Before Wagner: Swam for Middletown High School South during all four years of her high school career …  Recipient of the team MVP award … Holds school records in the 100 Breast and 200 Medley.

Aleah Mirand | Lakewood, CA / Saint Joseph
Before Wagner: Versatile athlete at Saint Joseph High School where she was an All-League gymnast in 2015 and 2017 and also participated in soccer … Has four brothers, Andrew (30), Brendon (26), Ethan (22), and Aidan (11).

Natalie Morse | Schenectady, NY / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
Before Wagner: Swam for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School … Member of the National Honor Society … Also a member of the Schenectady Saratoga Swim Club … Swimmer representative for Eastern Zone board of review.

Katrina Mueller | Lake Stevens, WA / Lake Stevens
Before Wagner: Four-year diver at Lake Stevens High School, where she holds the diving school record … Voted most improved diver in 2014 … Also starred as a track and field athlete, breaking the Vikings’ school record in the pole vault.

Wyeth Spike | Portland, ME / Casco Bay
Before Wagner: Maine state record-holder in the 400 IM and 2017 state champion in the 15-and-over age group …. Recipient of the Cassovola Sportsmanship Award … A multi-sport athlete who also competed in lacrosse at Casco Bay High School … Member of the National Honors Society.

Adrianna Warning | Henderson, NV / Coronado / Indian River State College 
Before Wagner: Transfer from Indian River State College … NJCAA All-American Scholar and two-time NJCAA Diver of the Year … Won the NFCAA 3m and 1m competition in consecutive seasons … Former standout diver at Coronado High School.
