Staten Island, NYKaitlyn Beaver, who has deep ties to the Northeast Conference (NEC) as a former standout student-athlete at Central Connecticut, and most recently the diving coach at Sacred Heart University, has been named diving coach at Wagner College, athletic director Walt Hameline announced.

Beaver arrived at Sacred Heart in August, 2016 where she was charged with restarting a Pioneer program that had been discontinued in 2010. Under Beaver’s leadership, the Pioneers quickly developed into a competitive program with three divers placing in the top 10 at the 2016 ECAC Winter Championships.

After Sacred Heart added 3-meter to the diving program in the fall of 2017, the Pioneers placed one diver in the top 12 at the 2017 ECAC Winter Championships and recorded personal bests on both 1-meter and 3-meter during her final dual meet season. Beaver also led the Pioneers to four top-12 finishes at the ECAC Championships in consecutive years.

Beaver’s additional coaching experience includes stints at the Dive Haven Club and Amity Regional High School. The Hamden, Connecticut, native is also a lifeguard supervisor.

Following a stellar scholastic career at Sacred Heart Academy, Beaver earned nine second-place and seven third-place finishes as a freshman at Hartwick College in 2012-13. Following her one year there, Beaver then transferred to Central Connecticut where she flourished, earning the NEC individual title in the 1-meter competition in 2015 while helping the Blue Devils to their first of two consecutive NEC team championships.

At Wagner, Beaver takes over a Seahawk team that is coming off a second-place finish at the NEC Championships and back-to-back ECAC Championships. On the diving board, Wagner returns 3-meter school record holder Adrianna Warning and sophomore Aleah Mirand, a finalist on the 1-meter board last season.

A 2016 graduate of Central Connecticut State, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in history, Beaver will pursue her MBA at Wagner in addition to her coaching duties.
