FINA has revealed the name of the coach of suspended Chinese swimmer Li Zhesi as Wang Shun today, and has also revealed a monetary fine doled out by the Chinese Federation as a result of her positive test for EPO in March.
Earlier this year, Li Zhesi has suspended for two years after testing positive for EPO in March; she was the relay anchor of the 2009 World Championship 400 medley relay of China that set the World Record at only 14 years old. Originally, the name of Zhesi’s coach was not revealed, but now the same two year suspension has been put upon Wang.
Wang is a new name, as Feng Zheng coached Li for most of her youth career according to Craig Lord of SwimNews, including up to her last major international competition: the 2011 FINA World Championships. Not much information is available about Wang’s coaching history from the very veiled Chinese federation, though it’s important to note a distinction between Wang Shun the coach and Wang Shun the 18-year old Chinese National Record holder in the men’s 400 IM.
Further, Zhesi was hit with a 5,000 Chinese Yuan (RMB) fine for the test, which amounts to a fairly modest $800 under current conversion rates.
Further, the Liaoning Provincial Swimming Association, the association from which Zhesi hails, also received a warning and the obligation to cover the costs of twenty (20) doping controls.
That’s All Folks.
Behind the bamboo curtain, they can make up any name and western civilization will believe it.
Bamboo curtain? There are more Americans in Chinese towns than in your town here in the USA.
Chill out pyscho. It’s a joke
You know, like iron curtain?
