Warm Up Starts From The Ground Up

Every practice for our Senior 1 Group at Phoenix Swim Club starts with dynamic warm up and we aim to get the body ready from the ground up. This was the warm up for one of our Wednesday sessions with Larry Arnold and there’s nobody better at getting bodies ready to work than Larry. This was just the first 10 minutes or so of our hour long dryland session.

Larry has provided the Senior 1 group at Phoenix Swim Club with a dryland program that focuses on building athleticism instead of breaking down muscles. Before Larry, I had major doubts about the value of dryland when it comes to benefits in the water. I didn’t want to break them down in the weight room at the cost of their gains in the water. What really clicked for me with Larry’s approach was that it focused on learning basic movements through posture and breathing. I’ve seen the kids carry that body awareness into their strokes in the water.
