Washington State Set to Host Five Meets in 2019-20

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State Women’s Swimming is set to host five meets at Gibb Pool in 2019-20, second-year head coach Matt Leach announced Thursday.

The Cougars are set to open the season with three home events at Gibb Pool beginning with the Crimson & Gray Intrasquad meet Friday, Sept. 20 followed by a relays-only meet with Nevada, San Diego State and Idaho set for Friday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. WSU’s first dual meet will see them host Nevada the following day, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.

In mid-October, the Cougars will head to Fresno, Calif. for the Chic-Fil-A Invite where they will compete against California, Air Force, Fresno State, San Jose State and San Diego State. The following week WSU returns to Gibb Pool to host Idaho in a dual set for Homecoming Weekend, Friday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. In late October, the Cougars head to the Bay area to open Pac-12 Conference action beginning against three-time defending NCAA National Champion Stanford, Oct. 23 followed by a matchup at California, Oct. 24.

Washington State will close the fall season with a two-day meet against Wyoming and Colorado State set for Nov. 8-9 in Laramie, Wyo. followed by a trip to Texas for the Houston Invite, Nov. 21-23. In early December, the U.S. Open, formerly known as U.S. Winter Nationals, will be held in Atlanta.

The Cougars open the 2020 portion of the schedule hosting UCLA at Gibb Pool, Jan. 11 and will head to Utah for a Jan. 18 matchup in Salt Lake City. The following week, USC makes the trip to Pullman for a Jan. 24 Senior Day meet and the Cougars will close out their regular season with a road meet at Boise State Feb. 1.

The 2020 Pac-12 Conference Championships are set for Feb. 26-29 in Federal Way, Wash. with the Pac-12 Last Chance Meet set for March 1, the CSCAA National Invite scheduled for March 12-14 in Cleveland and the NCAA Championships set for March 18-21 in Athens, Ga.
