The Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams traveled to Miami, Florida, for their annual training trip from January 2 through January 12. Freshman Ryan Fitzpatrick compiled a video of the time spent training and exploring the city and beaches.

Upon return, the Tartans hosted Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo in their last home meet of the season. After the programs celebrated their 16 seniors, the women went on to defeat Westminster, 262-38, and Geneseo, 177-123, while the men topped Westminster, 213-77, and Geneseo, 157-140. The men won eight events while sweeping the top three places in three events, as the women won nine events and also swept three.

On Tuesday, senior Machika Kaku and freshman Emma Nicklas-Morris of the women’s team and sophomore Winston Chu of the men’s team were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Corvias ECAC South Athletes of the Week.

The next event for the Tartans will be on January 21 at Denison University at 1:00 p.m.
