Sycamore High School junior Carson Foster broke the National High School Record in the 200 yard freestyle on Saturday, swimming a 1:32.99. That took exactly .10 seconds off Trey Freeman’s public school (and unofficial overall high school) record in the event, as well as moving Foster to 3rd place all-time in the 17-18 national rankings, even though he’s still just 17.

I HATE WHEN THEY MISS THE REACTION!! They always go to the board instead of waiting for the reaction even though we can always find the time. Anyone videoing a race that they know might be special has to wait for a reaction because that’s the best part.

Nolan’s record is still out of reach, but I think Jake’s 200 IM was almost as impressive. And he had to grab those low gutters.

Good ole’ Canton. Tons of fast swimming has been done in that pool.
Junior year DII nationals was at that pool… One of my least favorite pools I’ve ever swam a championship meet in. They had the warmup pool set to like 37.5m IIRC, really, really hard to do 400 IM pace when you have no idea of context.

He didn’t say no one can swim fast there, he just said he didn’t like it. You don’t have to agree, but it’s a valid opinion.
Agreed – wasn’t a fan of the pool, but ironically enough some of the fastest swims of my career were done there.
Wasn’t Freeman the independent record and not the public?
That’s a real deal swim. Single lane lines, lanes looked to be only 6′ wide, and relatively shallow depth end to end. He was nearly 2 seconds faster on last 50 than the 1:36 guy next to him. And he’s just a junior. Impressive.
Is there a particular reason for the double lines in most college meets? Something to with yards pools?
Single lines are the norm pretty much every other level of meet, including World Champs/Olympics.
I think it has to do with preventing the wake affecting other swimmers.
Maybe for the amount of waves that college swimmers make in those narrow lanes. It makes sense thinking of it that way.
It’s much deeper than 6 feet.
