South Africa’s Chad Le Clos had an impressive run in the butterfly events throughout the 2016 FINA World Cup series. He ended the series with an undefeated record in both the 50 fly and 100 fly after picking up 9 straight victories in both events.
Following his performance at the 2016 World Cup stop in Moscow, Le Clos established himself as the first and only male swimmer to ever win 1oo World Cup gold medals. His 100 fly victory in Moscow marked his 100th gold. He then continued on to earn several more titles throughout the series to raise his total even higher.
At the end of the World Cup series, Le Clos had earned a grand total of $197,250. That number was 2nd only to Vlad Morozov‘s $332,500. He was also the runner-up in the points standings behind Morozov.

9 consecutive wins in both the 50 and 100 Fly: that’s no mean feat. Incredibly consistent swimming. Well done Chad! Superhuman underwaters. He only takes about 6 strokes per 25M. He is always the last to surface. He has mastered SCM. Would be very interesting to see what he could do in SCY.
