Wednesday night Harvard’s Dean Farris once again proved that Ivy League swimming is not to be overlooked as he put up the fifth-fastest 800 freestyle relay split of all time anchoring Harvard’s record-setting relay at the 2018 Ivy League Championships.
Harvard’s 800 free relay destroyed the meet record of 6:19.80 that they set last season, as well as the pool record of 6:24.75, which had belonged to Princeton. Junior Brennan Novak got things started with a 1:34.50 split to lead off the relay, which was followed up with a 1:35.21 from freshman Mahlon Reihman and then a 1:36.38 from sophomore Zach Snyder. At 600 yards it was still a close race with Harvard leading Princeton by only 3/100ths, 4:46.09 to 4:46.12, respectively, and then Farris dove in.

Farris, a sophomore, exploded onto the scene last year as he gradually chiseled his lifetime best in the 200 freestyle from a 1:36.00 down to a 1:31.56. At the 2017 NCAA Championships, Farris placed 4th behind defending champion and American Record Holder Townley Haas of Texas, and USC’s Dylan Carter and Indiana’s Blake Pieroni, who tied for 2nd.

Impressive swim – he is huge by looking at the size of his arms per stroke , he can go very fast .
Incredible distance per stroke…doesn’t even look like hes moving that fast
How tall is he? He looks massive in comparison to the other swimmers

He must’ve grown a ton in college because his senior year at NCSAs he did not look 6”7 to me. The clips of his races that year are on YouTube, the 2016 NCSA Jr National Championship
