Many thanks to Shvoong for sharing their coverage of 2015 European Short Course Championships with SwimSwam.
Italy’s Federica Pellegrini won the 200m freestyle at day 4 of the 2015 European Short Course Championships, finishing just off of her best time in a time of 1:51.89, ahead of Russia’s Veronika Popova (1:52.46) and Netherland’s Femke Heemskerk (1:52.81). She was very happy with her swim, winning another gold medal, being just off of her best time and Italian national record and being European Champion for yet another year.
She says, “It’s amazing for me and I’m very happy.”
This year the women’s 200m free has become a very popular event, with fast times being posted from swimmers all over the world. Pellegrini is confident in the work she is doing to prepare for this event, she says, “it’s very difficult, the 200m, but I’m trying. I train all the time for this distance and we will see.”
Pelligrini will not be competing in the 400m free tomorrow morning, but she has had a very successful competition these past few days in Natanya, Isreal, finishing the 100 free final 5th, in a new Italian national record time of 52.56.
