Watch Katie Ledecky, Michael Andrew, And Torri Huske Qualify For Tokyo 2020

2021 U.S. OLYMPIC SWIMMING TRIALS

On the second night of racing at the 2021 US Olympic Trials, 3 swimmers officially added their name to the country’s Olympic roster. In the women’s 400 freestyle Katie Ledecky delivered a commanding victory of 4:01.27 while Michael Andrew took the men’s 100 breast in a 58.73 and Torri Huske clinched women’s 100 butterfly gold with a 55.66 American record.

Those 3 swims were all under the required FINA A and mean that we will be seeing those 3 swimmers in Tokyo this summer. Check out their Olympic-qualifying race videos below, courtesy of NBC Sports:

Women’s 400 Freestyle – Final

  1. Katie Ledecky (NCAP), 4:01.27
  2. Paige Madden (UVA), 4:04.86
  3. Leah Smith (CLCK), 4:06.27

Men’s 100 Breaststroke – Final

  1. Michael Andrew (RPC), 58.73
  2. Andrew Wilson (ABSC), 58.74
  3. Nic Fink (ABSC), 58.80

Women’s 100 Butterfly – Final

  1. Torri Huske (AAC), 55.66 AR
  2. Claire Curzan (TAC), 56.43
  3. Kate Douglass (UVA), 56.56

After the session, Olympians Torri Huske and Michael Andrew took part in a press conference and offered their reactions to qualifying for the team:

Man, Georgia has had a couple of heartbreakers. Margalis unexpectedly going Alain Bernard in the last 15 meters of the 400 IM, and Nic Fink semi-finaling a time that would’ve made the team if he duplicated it.
