Five-time Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Ledecky kicked off her collegiate swimming career this past Friday in a duel meet against Oregon State University. She took to her first meet in front of a sold out crowd, coming out on top in the 200 medley relay and 100 freestyle.
The Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder swam the freestyle leg of the medley relay, where Stanford finished with a time of 1:42.92. She also took first in the 100 freestyle, coming home in a time of 50.10. In addition to the relay and 100 freestyle, Ledecky took home a second place finish in the 200 butterfly and swam in the 400 freestyle relay.
Stanford won the meet by a score of 141 to 109, while swimming the last four events as exhibition. Ledecky will swim again on October 20th, where Stanford will take on Washington State University at home.

I like how the video says Stanford won the 200 IM relay… hahaha
When I saw 1:42.92 I assumed that was her 200 free time. As crazy as that would be, I almost wouldn’t be surprised if she did that this early in the season.
Also, I think it’s funny that she was way ahead halfway in the 200 fly, but then got caught on the last 50.
I actually want to see her time in 100 Br, 200 Bk and 400IM for her off-strokes during the preseason. For the world class 200IM and 400IM, I think the key would be the breaststroke. She will need to improve on this leg.
