The 2023 Pro Swim Series at the FMC Aquatic Center in Westmont, IL, kicked off last night. The first night of the meet featured timed finals of the men’s and women’s 800 freestyles. Watch veteran Leah Smith post a solid April time of 8:28.23 to win the women’s 800 free convincingly last night. Also watch out for 37-year-old Kristel Kobrich, who notched a third-place finish with an 8:37.18. Kobrich has been one of the most prolific women’s distance swimmers in South American history, having competed for Chile in the past five Olympics.
