The 2016 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships came to a close tonight, but not before another All Comers Record went down and names were announced on the green and gold line-up for Windsor. Among those now set to compete at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships is David Morgan, the man who swept the butterfly events in Brisbane, capping his meet off with a near Australian National Record in his final fly race tonight.
Splitting 23.30/26.22, Morgan’s result of 49.52 surpassed the previous All Comers Record of 49.71 set by Adam Pine all the way back in 2009. In fact, Morgan’s outing tonight fell just .01 of a second shy of Mitchell Patterson’s Australian Record of 49.51 set also back in 2009.
Emily Seebohm clinched her 7th individual title of the meet by winning the women’s 200m IM in tonight’s session, while freestyle specialist Cameron McEvoy successfully his gold treble of victories across the 50m/100m/200m events.
