Videos have surfaced of some of the fast swims at the 2017 Chinese National Championships in Qingdao, China, which started on Monday, April 10th and will run through Wednesday, April 19th. Since the start of the meet, we’ve seen a handful of records go down.
On day 6, Chinese backtroke star Xu Jiayu continued to rewrite the record books with a 1:54.03 to win the 200 back, setting a new Chinese National Record in the process. That put him 1.5 seconds ahead of the field, as Li Guangyuan touched in 1:55.53 for silver.
Also setting a Chinese National Record on day 2 was junior standout Tan Haiyang. After setting a Junior World Record in the 200 IM on day 5, he kept building on that momentum in today’s 200 breast final. This time, he won gold, surging to a 2:08.71 victory.
Check out the action below, including the 200 IM records, courtesy of Ye Zhu’s YouTube Channel. We’ve posted all available videos of the finals in each race through day 4. (NOTE: Videos of the women’s 200 breast and women’s 100 free are not yet available).

The swimmer’s last name is Qin, not Tan.
This looks and sounds like the most depressing swim meet ever. I don’t know how they managed to make swimming more boring than it already is.
