Thanks to the filming efforts of James Foster, father of Carson Foster, we have a few race videos from the first two days of competition at 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Budapest.

On Day One, the United States men’s 4×100 free relay broke the Championship Record and World Junior Record with 3:15.80. Jake Magahey led off with 49.51 and was followed by Gianluca Urlando (48.73), Adam Chaney (48.64), and Carson Foster (48.92). You can watch James Foster’s videos of the race below. (He had a memory card mishap in the middle of the race so he has posted it in two parts.)

On Day Two, Carson Foster swam in heats of the 200 free in the morning. He won his heat with 1:48.11 and qualified second overall for the final. The 200 free prelims video is below:

In finals, Urlando took home the gold with 1:46.97. Sweden’s Robin Hanson was runner-up with 1:47.03, while Brazil’s Murilo Sartori came in third with 1:47.39. Foster finished fifth behind Russia’s Aleksandr Shchegolev.

That evening, Foster won the 200 IM with a new Championship Record of 1:58.46. His splits were 25.35 on the fly, 29.73 on back, 34.71 on breast, and 28.67 on free. Watch the final of the 200 IM here:

Off topic, I am still looking for a race video from the Gwangju world championships – mens 4x200m free was a tight finish to the end. I am surprised there doesn’t appear to be a full video of it anywhere.
