SwimSwam has released a video recap of the Australian training camp that took place in Alabama at the Auburn University pool. You can check this video and many more at SwimSwam’s Youtube page, or you can watch the recap below.
The short video features various clips of the Australian Olympic Team training at the Auburn pool with background music.
The Australian team is no longer at Auburn, and is now in Rio preparing for the Games. The Olympic Village officially opened on July 15th, but problems with the living conditions plagued the Village.
The Australians were set to move into the Village on the 21st, but according to Kitty Chiller, Australia’s Chef de Mission, the Village was not safe or ready to move in. The Australians, however, were not alone on this issue, as the Great Britain and New Zealand Team faced similar issues in their housing.
“Problems include blocked toilets, leaking pipes, exposed wiring, darkened stairwells where no lighting has been installed and dirty floors in need of a massive clean” said Chiller.
The issues are now being rectified, however, and Australians were set to move into their living quarters this past Wednesday. The struggle is not yet over for the Rio organizers, as 19 of the 31 apartment buildings have yet to pass safety tests.
Observe how lean the team has become. Big change from London… Especially Maggie. Power to weight improving….
