Watch: South Dakota Returns From San Diego Training Trip

The South Dakota University men’s and women’s swim teams took to the west coast for their winter training trip.

Out in San Diego the team would spend up to six hours a day training, with a focus of team bonding and their love of the sport on the trip.

“We usually train in Puerto Rico, but I thought the team was ready for a new location,” said swimming and diving head coach Jason Mahowald. “We looked at going to West Palm Beach in Florida or San Diego. San Diego was the overwhelming favorite by the team. Every other year, a trip on the mainland is a good thing.”

The Coyotes continue their season with a home meet against North Dakota on January 13 with diving starting at 4 PM and swimming at 6 PM. The following day South Dakota will host South Dakota State at 2 PM for senior day.
