Day 1 of the Texas Orange/White Invitational continued one of the Longhorn mens’ most consistent traditions over at least the last decade: swimming fast at the season-opening intrasquad meet.
SwimSwam’s Mel Stewart was in the stands at the meet to capture video of all of the racing on day 1 of the annual event. Day 2 will be held on Friday.

I’m probably one of the lesser qualified people on this thread to opine, but after watching Johnston’s 500, his stroke seems really short but his kick is phenomenal. He seemed ready to lose to Kibler but his stroke suddenly got really long In the last 5 yards, which led him to win. What could he do if he lengthened his stroke?
Ya this is cool and all, but anyone else see that bird before the second turn in 100 breast?
I can’t believe how awesome it is to watch some racing. What an awful Spring and Summer it has been without being able to watch great athletes climb up on the blocks and let it rip.
….so I’m an idiot. I was so excited to watch the 200 fly, I didn’t start recording until halfway through. Big apologies (but Coleman’s on vacation, and I’m rusty). I’ll get every second of the races today…..

Good swim for Gunnar. It seems 2fly is his best shot. Second spot is pretty open
