Day Four ended with an exciting men’s 4×200 free final. The United States quartet of Jake Magahey (1:48.11), Luca Urlando (1:47.13), Jake Mitchell (1:47.03), and Carson Foster (1:46.10) prevailed and set a new World Junior Record and Championship Record of 7:08.37.

China took it out quickly from lane 1 and led the field at the first wall, but the USA was in the lead by the 100. Thomas Neill of Australia had the fastest leadoff split, going 1:47.58 to give the Aussies a half-body length lead heading into the second leg. USA’s Magahey was second, while Hungary’s Gabor Zombori was even with Magahey at 1:48.17. Nikita Danilov had Russia in fourth with 1:48.76.

Aleksandr Shchegolev pulled Russia into the lead on the second leg, outsplitting Urlando 1:46.36 to 1:47.13. Mitchell put the USA into first place on the third leg, going 1:47.03 to Maksim Aleksandrov’s 1:48.38.

USA pulled out into clear water on the final leg as Foster split a huge 1:46.10. Russia’s Aleksandr Egorov went 1:48.40, and the Russians wound up in second with 7:11.90. Australia took bronze with 7:15.06 while Brazil wound up fourth in 7:16.99.
