WATCH: Thiago Pereira Officially Qualify for His 4th Olympics

2016 MARIA LENK TROPHY OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Among the highlights of the 5th and second-to-last day of the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was 2012 Olympic silver medalist Thiago Pereira officially cementing his spot for the Olympics.

Pereira’s qualification was almost a given, but after opting out of the 400 IM, where he had his biggest success in London, his spot wasn’t assured until he came away with the top time, 1:57.91, in a tie with Henrique Rodrigues in Brazil’s two-tiered qualification system
