Watch: UIC’s Windy City Swimmers Travel To The Sunshine State

The Flames of the University of Illinois at Chicago took a trip down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida over winter break for some surf, sun, and swimming.

The university’s women are currently 7-3 in dual competition, while the men are 6-4. Their most recent wins came against the NAIA’s Olivet Nazarene: 147-47 on the men’s side and 165-29 on the women’s. Big victories in that meet came from Rachel Criscione with a university 3-meter record 316.88; Brianna Hines, currently ranked #1 in the Horizon League in the 1650 free, with 16:42.38 in the event; Claire Haggerty with her season best 1:56.26 in the 200 free; Sophia Shalabi with 24.71 in the 50 free; Kei Ishimaru with 1:56.27 in the 200 IM; Nathan Bosse with 1:44.13 in the 200 free; Tyler Pastore in the 3-meter with 340.28; Sean Scarry in the 1-meter with 320.93; and Connor Homans with 21.38 in the 50 free.

The team’s final dual meet of the season will be January 30th when they host Valparaiso at their home pool. They will take most of February to taper, and their championship meet will be the Horizon League Championships in Rochester, Michigan on February 24th through February 27th.
