The USA Women’s National Team breezed into the semifinals of the FINA World Cup with a 24-0 defeat of Singapore in the quarterfinal round. Kami Craig (Santa Barbara, CA/USC/SBWPF) scored five goals to lead the offensive parade while Sami Hill (Santa Barbara, CA/UCLA/SBWPF) and Ashleigh Johnson (Miami, FL/Princeton/Gulliver Riptides) combined for 10 saves in the shutout. The win over Singapore was never in doubt as the United States raced out to an 8-0 lead after the first period and a 15-0 lead at halftime. They kept up the attack in the third quarter with five more goals and then another four in the fourth to close out the match 24-0. Team USA went 5/6 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty shots while Singapore did not draw any exclusions or penalties. Kaleigh Gilchrist (Newport Beach, CA/USC/Trojan) bolstered the scoring attack with four goals of her own with 10 total field players contributing.
