On the final day of the West Fargo Futures meet, 14-year-old North Texas Nadadores’ Maximus Williamson continued having a phenomenal meet. Williamson won the men’s 200 back in 2:03.69. The swim was a personal best by half a second, as he entered the meet with a best of 2:04.11, which he swam just last weekend.
Williamson’s previous best had him 9th all-time in the 13-14 200 back rankings, and his new time puts him 8th, jumping over Michael Andrew. Here is the current all-time top 10 for 13-14 boys in the LCM 200 back:

Northern Lights Swimming Association 18-year-old Eric Anderson won the men’s 50 free, though he was well off his personal best. Anderson clocked a 23.26 to win the race by half a second. The time, however, was 0.69 seconds off his personal best of 22.57, which he swam in June at the U.S. Olympic Trials Wave I meet.
KATY’s Tyler Kopp swam a 2:05.46 to win the men’s 200 IM, dipping under his previous best of 2:05.59, which he swam 2 months ago. Despite Kopp being primarily a freestyler, it was the backstroke leg where he made his move on the field in this race.
Academy Bullets Swim Club grabbed a 1-2 finish in the women’s 200 IM, with 17-year-old Nina Mollin (2:16.69) and 18-year-old Isabella Pytel (2:19.70) taking 2nd. Mollin’s swim was a personal best by almost a second, and puts her right outside the 17-18 girls all-time top 100.
Nasa Wildcat Aquatics 17-year-old Carly Novelline clocked a 26.13 to win the women’s 50 free by 0.01 seconds over Madison Aquatic Club’s Sophie Fiske. Novelline’s swim was well off her personal best of 25.46, which she swam in March of this year. Fiske was also off her best of 25.79, which she swam at the U.S. Olympic Trials Wave I meet in June.
Novelline went on to win the women’s 200 backstroke as well, swimming a 2:16.44, this time winning a tight race over Lillie Nordmann (2:16.55). Carly got out to a much faster start than Nordmann, splitting 1:06.40 on the first 100, compared to 1:09.20 from Nordmann. Nordmann then opened up a huge negative split on the 2nd 100, splitting a 1:07.35, but she fell just short of beating out Novelline. Entering the meet with a personal best of 2:21.73, Novelline’s time marked a personal best by over 5 seconds, while Nordmann was 2 seconds off her best of 2:14.56.
Ava Topolewski of Mansfield Aquatic Club swam a 17:02.94 to win the women’s 1500 handily. Topolewski’s swim marked a lifetime best by 24 seconds, as her previous best of 17:26.86 was from a 2019 Futures meet in Des Moines. North Texas Nadadores 17-year-old Mason Edmund won the men’s 800 free in 8:18.55. Edmund’s swim was a personal best by 3 seconds, coming in under her previous best of 8:21.52, which was from February of 2020.
I think the title is supposed to say 200 back not 200 IM
Bummer…came here for the last 50 split comparisons in the 2IM
