The Westchester Aquatic Club in New York swam faster than a National Age Group Record on Monday night in the girls’ 200 yard medley relay, making a rare short-course record attempt in the summer.
The 10 & under relay of Joy Jiang, Megan Lee, Kira Chen, and Yilinna Collmar combined for a 2:02.70 in the 200 yard medley relay and the team has submitted the result to USA Swimming for verification. This swim, once ratified, will erase the old record set by the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club in 2009 at 2:02.82.
The splits:
- Jiang 29.48 (backstroke)
- Lee 36.01 (breaststroke)
- Chen 30.80 (fly)
- Collmar 26.41 (free)
The program is led by head coach Carleanne Fierro and assistant Jonah Montgomery, and is preparing to race at the Eastern Zone Championships this coming weekend.
I wish Joy swam that fast
It’s a typo her split was 29.49
This was very exciting as we were going for the Metro record which was 206 so we were really thrilled with the NAG Record !
Are those splits right? A 24.98 backstroke split is unreal for a 10 and under girl.
I thought these were all long-course times at first and had no idea where these inhuman 10 & unders came from.
