Westminster College Leads After Opening Day Of PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Westminster College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened up the 2019-2020 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Wednesday evening. After one day of competition, both the men’s and the women’s teams are in first place with 54 and 52 points, respectively.

For the women, senior Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) led the way in the 1-meter diving prelims, as she is currently in first place with a score of 169.10. Junior Zoe Cable (Brookville, PA / Brookville Area) is right behind in second place with a score of 165.10, while sophomore Jamie Elia (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) is in third with a score of 158.95. Sophomore Gayner Rossi (Trenton, MI / Trenton) is in fifth place with a score of 138.40. In the 800 free relay finals, the quartet of senior Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch), sophomores Marissa Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / Cuyahoga Falls) and Megan Routch (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) and first-year Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) finished second with 7:58.09.

For the men, Junior Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) is currently first in the 3-meter dive prelims with a mark of 223.55, while sophomore Patrick Holton (Livonia, MI / Winston Churchill) is right behind in second place with a score of 204.75. Sophomore Austin Shaw (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland) is in third with a score of 192.75. In the 800 free relay finals, the team of seniors Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) and Aaron Dunlany (Boardman, OH / Boardman), junior Blaine Sorrick (Mantua, OH / Crestwood) and sophomore Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) won the event with a time of 6:53.70.

Westminster will be back in action on tomorrow when it competes in the second day of the PAC Championships.
