The Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships begin tomorrow night in Athens, Georgia. What do they get as a gift?
Florida International University posted the gift box from the NCAA for this year’s championships. In recent years, participants have been given “points” to receive gifts typically at the end of the meet. These points could be used for numerous smaller items or one larger item. Examples of past gifts earned from these points included air fryers, massage guns, sunglasses, kitchen appliances, and other goodies.
This year, the NCAA has given a gift box before the meet. The gift box includes a Yeti with the meet shown on it, an NCAA patch, a qualifier medallion, Ray Ban sunglasses, a towel, and a Powerade water bottle.
Waaaaay back in the day…. I got a cool t-shirt and bag, and some very handsome plaques for finishing in the top 8.
I went 96, 97, 98. We got no goodies. Just a certificate of attendance. Plenty of shirts & hats you could buy… while supplies lasted. At least the SEC gave you a T-shirt at their meet.

Same amount of work being put in for both divisions student-athletes. The athletes get pre-meet and post-meet gifts. In past years they got similar pre-meet gifts. DI typically gets large and pricier post meet gifts (such as the air fryer). This year’s pre gift was quite a shock to the D3 athletes and honestly disappointing, especially knowing how much was given to D1. At D3 there wasn’t even enough of the medallions for teams.
One year we got a sub zero sleeping bag & a Minnesota Gophers bobblehead

Dig a bit deeper NCAA.
I still have my fleece blanket. I think one year we got a discman. Just one more thing to make the meet fun and memorable.
