What Will Michael Andrew Swim at World Championship Trials?

Olympic gold medalist Michael Andrew notched multiple wins at the Fort Lauderdale Pro Swim. The 23 year old swim-pro said he’s been training consistently.  We’ve pushed him a lot on his lineup, specifically asking whether or not he’ll swim 200 IM this summer or at U.S. Olympic Trials.  We can’t confirm it, but it sounds like 200 IM is off the table this year, but a real option in June 2024.

Michael Andrew 2023 World Champs (and 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials) predictions!

These are general shout into the wind predictions because we’ve been reporting on Michael since he was 9 years old.

At the 2023 World Championships Michael gets on the podium in the 50 fee and 100 breast, because he can…if he does the work.

50 fly and 50 breast at World Championships? I know Michael cares, and fans care, but I don’t because you can’t win Olympic hardware in those events. You should be able to, but the lords of swimming governance want to continue to make swim-entertainment elusive.

2024 US Olympic Trials? The world thinks Michael’s 200 IM is off the table, but Michael rallies, make an eye-popping star turn, making all U.S. competitors chase on him on that final lap–but it won’t be enough. Michael touches in 1:54.8. And 30,000 fans lose their minds.

But who cares what I think. It’s all about what you think. Drop your comment below.

A 50 of some things, an 85 of others.

I had a dream last night that Michael Andrew was on record pace once again, but locked up on the last 50 to be passed up by none other than Brooks Curry. I’m not sure what it means at all, or if I’ve seen the future, but I woke up feeling optimistic.

Dear Caeleb,

Save us from the Michael Andrew hype!

Pretty sure MA made the team along w/ Caeleb.

Makes it a bit more likely he swims the 100 fly if Caeleb’s not around, but otherwise doesn’t change much.

Pray to Poseidon to give strength to Casas, Foster, Kalisz and crush the fraud Michael Andrew in the men’s 200 meter individual medley. A mere tap on the shoulders from Poseidon’s trident should do the trick.

Why?

Obviously there are plenty of good out-of-the-pool reasons not to be a MA fan, but I don’t know enough about the others to know if they’re dirtbags, either.

Something’s off with Foster. I think he got Popoviched by Marchand.

Seriously?

When will the Michael “50 meter” Andrew hype end?

50 BK – not contested at the Summer Olympics
50 BR – not contested at the Summer Olympics
50 FL – not contested at the Summer Olympics
50 FR

How about what will Katie Grimes swim at the World Championship Trials?

800 FR
200 FR
400 IM
400 FR
1500 FR

800 meters + 2 x 200 meters + 2 x 400 meters + 2 x 400 meters + 1500 meters = 4300 meters

Obviously you never watched Rebecca Soni’s 200 breast in 2009 Rome.

The worst ever last lap on a world level.

I could just see Soni’s panic that last lap.
