It’s been an exciting year for Emily Brunemann. She got back on track with her open water swimming at the 2013 USA Swimming nationals and she won the the 2013 FINA open water world cup series. She’s taken on a lot of excitement in her life outside of swimming too. We caught up with the University of Michigan graduate down in Ft. Myers Florida where she’s getting ready for this weekend’s Open Water Swimming Festival and the 1oK Crippen cup.
In this interview Emily shares some of what she’s learned over the past year through her extensive racing on the world cup circuit – nuances in venues and how she better reads her competitors. She also explains what all of her outside swimming activities mean to her and how her non-swimming pursuits keep her fresh and motivated in the water.
Like many in the open water swimming community in the United States, she has her focus on the USA Swimming open water nationals at Lake Castaic this June.
There’s a buzz in the air down in Florida this weekend as the crew at Gulf Coast Swimming host another amazing event.
