DENTON – The UNT swimming and diving program put on its annual Green vs. White meet on Friday and Saturday, with the White team coming out on top, 158-137, and head coach Brittany Roth leaving impressed with her team’s adaptability and resiliency.

Some of the highlights in the pool included junior Tram Nguyen. sophomore Lexie Green and sophomore Kailey Turner.

“Overall, I was impressed with our team’s energy and resiliency throughout this meet,” Roth said. “With dividing our squad into two teams, many athletes had to rise to the occasion and race either different events than usual, or race in more efforts than usual, and they handled that well. Tram Nguyen really impressed me today in how she handled 3 200s (200 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 200 IM) within less than 90 minutes. Kailey Turner was given a chance to really show her range today for her team, and Lexie Green came through in a strong performance in her first 1,000 freestyle of the year, then just mere minutes later, she competed in the 200 butterfly, which is a grueling double.”

In the diving portion on Friday, graduate student Brigid Krbec took first in the 3-meter springboard, followed up by fifth-year Altaira Wallquist and senior Olivia Dollar. In the 1-meter springboard, Wallquist came out on top, followed by senior Makaia Goemans and Dollar.

The team heads to the Land of Enchanment next weekend with road meets at New Mexico State on Friday and New Mexico on Saturday, as the divers are set to make their season debut.

“In our training cycle, this week has been ramped up, and I know the team is fatigued,” Roth said. “Through all of the ups and downs in this first month, consistently our athletes have been attacking the challenges in front of them. I’m excited about what this team can do together as we look to the next segment of our season.”
