Willers, Hintze and Brandt Set Multiple Records At German Junior National Championships

Julia Willers, Johannes Hintze and Moritz Brandt all set multiple age group records at the German Junior National Championships which ran from June 17th to 21st in Berlin.

Willers set records in all three breaststroke events for 18 year old girls. She took down Laura Simon‘s 2012 record of 31.70 in the 50 breaststroke taking the event in a time of 31.51. She then went on to win the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:08.36 beating her own record of 1:08.86. In the 200 breaststroke she won the event by almost six seconds and destroyed her own record of 2:29.24 which she set at the German National Championships in May.

Brandt took down one of the oldest German age group records winning the boys 16 year old 400 freestyle in a time of 3:55.34. He broke Rainer Henkel‘s record of 3:56.15 which was set in 1980. Brandt also broke his own record in the 200 butterfly winning the event in a time of 2:01.46.

15 year old Joannes Hintze was impressive as well breaking another long standing record in the 400 freestyle. He won the event in a time of 3:59.56 breaking Uwe Daßler‘s record of 4:00.15 which was set in 1982. Hintze also set a new age group record in the 100 butterfly winning the event in a time of 54.98.

Marek Ulrich also set records in both the 50 and 100 backstroke in the 17 year old boys events. Ulrich won the 50 in a time of 25.65 and the 100 in a time of 55.94.

• Poul Zellmann – 19 year old boys – 800 freestyle – 8:00.72
• Anna Dietterle – 17 year old girls – 50 freestyle – 25.55
• Philipp Andre Brandt – 15 year old boys – 200 breaststroke – 2:21.57
