WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The host Williams Ephs posted a pool record to win the 800 freestyle relay to open the 2020 NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship at Samuelson-Muir Pool.

The Williams team of senior Lucca Delcompare and juniors Henry Marquardt, David Pearcy, and Jamie Lovette broke the Ephs’ pool record with a time of 6:34.37. The Williams relay came close to setting a new NESCAC and NESCAC meet mark (6:34.03), which was set by an Ephs relay team that included Delcompare, Marquardt, and Lovette a year ago.

Amherst (6:43.64) and Tufts (6:44.59) finished second and third, respectively, and all three teams achieved NCAA B-cut times.

Day 2 of the NESCAC Championships begins at 10 a.m. on Friday with prelim swims. The preliminary rounds of the 1-meter diving competition are set for 2 p.m. and the finals will begin at 6 p.m. Live results are available at NESCAC.com. Fans can also watch all the action at NESCAC.com and via the NESCAC Network channel on Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire (Search NESCAC Network).
