Wilson Drops D3 200 IM Record…Again

Andrew Wilson of Emory is at it again, posting another NCAA record after having reset the record set in 1998 this morning in prelims. This morning, Wilson and Trevor Manz both went under the record. This evening, Wilson took with him two others under the record he set this morning: Hugh Anderson of Mary Washington and Evan Holder of JHU.

Basically, it was about time that record came down.

Wilson is also swimming the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at this meet, and can attribute his IM success to that particular leg. (Going into the breast leg, he was 7th in the field.)

1:46.23! Old record was 1:46.25 from prelims and 1:46.97 from 1998.

Those elbows are dangerously close to being out of the water on his breaststroke recovery. As a stroke & turn official, I’m gonna have to keep a better eye on that detail going forward. (Not that I could actually see this; as fast as Andrew must be going ;^)

I don’t know who that is, but that’s not a picture of Andrew

Stock Photo! Andrew’s is much safer… I presume. I really don’t see him for very long.
