Winnington Heads For Queensland Medal Shots LC Prep Meet

2019 QUEENSLAND MEDAL SHOTS LONG COURSE PREPARATION MEET

The annual Queensland Medal Shots Long Course Preparation Meet kicks-off the long course season for state swimmers, with the 2-day affair giving clubs a chance to get some racing under their belts at Brisbane Aquatics Centre.

One of the big winners from this meet last year, World Championships silver medalist Kaylee McKeown, will be absent this time around, instead competing at the final stop of the FINA World Cup Series in Doha, Qatar. Several talented swimmers are still set to race here, however, to the tune of Georgia Bohl, Jenna Strauch, Kareena Lee, as well as visiting athletes Barbora Zavadova of the Czech Republic and Jessica Eriksson of Sweden.

For the men, London Roar International Swimming League (ISL) team member Elijah Winnington is entered in 6 individual events here at the Medal Shots meet, including the 50m/100m/200m/400m free and the 200m IM and 100m fly. Winnington took the 400m free match title at the ISL meet in Budapest.

He’ll be pitted against World Junior Championships relay bronze medalist Alex Grant of Brisbane Grammar, with the freestyle ace racing the 100m-800m freestyle distances, as well as the 100m fly.
